Methane Sensor for Mars (MSM), on-board Mars Orbiter Mission is a differential radiometer based on Fabry–Perot Etalon (FPE) filters which measures column density of methane in the Martian atmosphere. It is the first FPE sensor ever flown to space. Spectral, spatial and radiometric performances of the sensor were characterized thoroughly during the pre-launch calibration. Geophysical calibration of the sensor was carried out using the data acquired over Sahara desert during Earth Parking Orbit phase. Retrieval algorithm for MSM, which is based on the linearization of radiative transfer equations, gets simultaneous solutions for CH4 and CO2 concentrations in the Martian atmosphere.Keywords

Background/Objectives: India is an agriculture based country. Agriculture is the main source of food for any country and thus it is important to have a proper irrigation system. Due to global warming and many climate changes nowadays there is no fixed time of rain and the amount of rain so there is a great chance of the crops getting destroyed. Less rain leads to under irrigation and excessive rain leads to over irrigation and both these would result in yield reduction. In this paper we introduce a system which can control the irrigation according to the need. Methods/Statistical Analysis: In this paper we introduce a system which can control the irrigation according to the need. This system consists of temperature, moisture and PH sensors which will tell the user about the conditions of the field and according to it the user can control the system. This system is also automatic i.e. we can preset some certain values for the moisture and when the moisture goes below the threshold level the system will automatically switch on the pumps until the moisture level goes to the required. Findings: The system is powered by a renewable source of energy i.e. solar energy. This system is connected to the user by IOT (Internet Of Things) and user can check the status and control the system from the android mobile phone. There is also a LCD which displays the moisture, temperature and the pH of the soil. Application/Improvements: This system can be implemented in farms, parks, horticulture land and wherever there is a need for efficient irrigation system. This system supports aggressive water management for the agriculture land. The design is low power, low cost, small size, robust and highly versatile.Keywords

Objectives: Topographic map has been studied to observe the amount of neuronal activity at various electrode locations. Methods/Statistical Analysis: Electroencephalography (EEG) refers to recording of electrical activities (potential or current density) produced by neurons. A raw EEG signal obtained through electrodes placed in a specific pattern on the scalp. One of the electrodes needs to be selected as a Reference, relative to which electrical activity at all other electrodes shall be measured. It is usually said that electrodes at “inactive” regions of the scalp should be selected as the reference but this paper deals with analyzing what happens if any other electrode is selected as reference as there is no single best reference for all the purposes. The magnitude of electrical activity at various electrodes is indicated by color codes so that it is visually distinguishable. Findings: The difference in topography of EEG rhythms shall be observed and the extent up to which this is correct with different electrodes as reference would be seen. We observe that asymmetry arises if electrodes are at right or left rather than at Center line. We also observe that the electrodes which are at similar potential as that of the reference is indicated by Red color. Application/Improvements: The electrodes at very high potential than the reference are indicated by yellow whereas blue indicates medium activity w.r.t. the reference. Partial reconfiguration allows time-sharing of physical resources for the execution of multiple functional modules by swapping in or out at run-time without incurring any system downtime. This results in dramatically increase in speed and functionality of FPGA based system. This paper presents the designing an interface controller through UART for execution&implementation of reconfigurable modules (RM) on Xilinx Virtex-4(XC4VFX12), (XC4VFX20) and (XC4VFX60) devices. To verify partial reconfiguration execution at run-time an interface has been designed to make user interaction with the system at run-time. Interface design includes the controllers for controlling the flow of data to and from the reconfigurable modules to the external world (host environment) through busmacros. The controller is designed as static module. All the static as well as dynamic modules are designed and simulated to verify the functionality with supporting simulation tool using ModelSim-6.0d and synthesized with Xilinx 9.1.02i_PR10 (ISE).Keywords

Various pathological conditions in thebodyare observed as a result of cellular damage. Damage to erythrocytes makes them less capable of carrying oxygen. Some therapeutic agents are known to cause lysis of erythrocytes. In the present study, ferulic acid was used to assess protective effects on erythrocytes against various hemolytic insults. Experimental models viz. hemoglobin- induced linoleic acid peroxidation, H2O2 induced hemolysis and CuOOH-induced hemolysis were used to study theprotective effect of ferulic acid. Ferulic acid demonstrated concentration-dependent inhibition in the experimental models. In all the three cases, maximum inhibition of hemolysis was observed at 250 μg/ml of ferulic acid. The study establishes ferulic acid as apotential antihemolytic agent.Keywords

Purpose: The study aims to examine and compare the workers’ perception towards various labour welfare facilities provided in the co-operative and private sugar mills of Punjab state of India. The study also examines the association of perception scores for welfare facilities with the personal characteristics of workers.
Methodology: Data was collected from 490 workers (280 from co-operative sugar mills and 210 from private sugar mills) with the help of a structured questionnaire. The sample was drawn using referral sampling method.
Findings: Results showed that out of 29 welfare facilities examined in this study, facilities like canteen, medical, sitting, drinking water, housing and cycle sheds are found satisfactory in both the types of sugar mills. The study also found that workers’ perception scores on welfare facilities were associated with most of their personal characteristics.
Implications: The study emphasizes on provision of need based valuable welfare facilities which can enhance the efficiency of workers that will ultimately lead to increased individual and organizational productivity.
Limitations: The main limitation is the size of sample which restricts the generalization of results in Punjab state and secondly, the use of random sampling might have improved the results of the study.

Orbiter High Resolution Camera (OHRC) onboard Chandrayaan-2 Orbiter-craft, is a very high spatial resolution camera operating in visible panchromatic band. OHRC’s primary goal is to image the landingsite region prior to landing for characterization and finding hazard-free zones. Post landing operation of the OHRC will be for scientific studies of small-scale features on the lunar surface. OHRC makes use of the time delay integration detector to have good signal-tonoise ratio under low illumination condition and less integration time due to very high spatial resolution. Ground sampling distance (GSD) and swath of OHRC (in nadir view) are 0.25 m and 3 km respectively, from 100 km altitude. GSD is better than 0.32 m in oblique view (25° pitch angle) during landing site imaging from 100 km altitude in two stereo views in consecutive orbits. This article includes the details of the configuration, sub-systems, imaging modes, and optical, spectral and radiometric characterization performance.Keywords
